Discovery Service for existing customers using GeognoSIS 8.0 CSW

Metadata records can no longer be stored in GeognoSIS at version 9.

For existing Cadcorp GeognoSIS 8.0 customers we recommend using another OGC Catalog Server (CSW) such as GeoNetwork.

GeoNetwork is a standalone web service interface that allows users to create, store and export INSPIRE compliant metadata.

Existing metadata records stored in GeognoSIS 8.0 can be moved into the GeoNetwork service.

Migrating metadata records from GeognoSIS 8.0 to GeoNetwork

• Export all existing records in the GeognoSIS 8.0 CSW catalogue to Gemini XML format via the Metadata Manager Add-in for SIS 8.0:

• Install and configure GeoNetwork.

• Existing Gemini XML metadata files can now be imported into GeoNetwork.

• New users without Gemini XML files from another system can create records through GeoNetwork directly.

• New records in the GeoNetwork repository will have their own unique link which can be shared by URL or exported to Gemini format XML. These can then be uploaded to the Data.Gov website (https://data.gov.uk/publishers).

• XML files downloaded from the repository may need to be parsed through the UK Location Metadata Editor (https://locationmde.data.gov.uk ) for final validation.
